OnePlus 5T unmasked in new leaked image ahead of release date, source claims

OnePlus is purportedly hard at work on a new smartphone.

Dubbed OnePlus 5T, the new phone is tipped to be a slight refresh on its current flagship, .

The Chinese smartphone startup employed a similar technique last year, launching its OnePlus 3T a mere six months after the launch of its predecessor.

According to sources speaking to GizmoChina, OnePlus aims to launch its OnePlus 5T handset in November 2017.

The biggest change purportedly planned for the new handset is the display.

The company is expected to increase the display to six-inches, with a 2160×1080 resolution and a 18:9 aspect ratio.

Following in the footsteps of the , Pixel 2 XL and iPhone X, OnePlus will trim the bezels around its display – allowing for a greater screen-to-body ratio.

GizmoChina has obtained a photograph that claims to show the OnePlus 5T.

The source refused to reveal whether the sides of the display are curved like the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 – as they appear in the leaked image.

Like all rumours, it’s worth taking this leak with a healthy pinch of salt.

It’s possible OnePlus will wait until next year to launch its next flagship smartphone.

After all, by this time last year, .

Coupled with that, Qualcomm had launched a new flagship chipset, the SnapDragon 821, which offered significantly more power than the Snapdragon 820 used in the OnePlus 3.

Qualcomm has only launched one top-of-the-line processor this year, the SnapDragon 835, which is inside the OnePlus 5.
