Blizzard DOWN – Battle Net server status latest as players hit by long login queue

Blizzard players have reported the online gaming service down, with hundreds of fans saying the Battle Net servers are down.

Blizzard’s Battle Net service is used by PC players to get online and play , Stacraft, Diablo, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft and Heroes of the Storm.

But hundreds of players have today reported issues with the service, citing server connection and login problems.

Independent website Down Detector has registered a surge of Blizzard fans reporting issues with Battle Net today.

Out of those affected, 52 per cent had server connection problems while 44 per cent had login issues.

Down Detector has received hundreds of reports so far from Blizzard fans that Battle Net is down, with the problems starting 12.20pm BST.

The reports of Blizzard down peaked at 389 on the outage tracker.

Independent website Down Detector measures social mentions around a certain topic to track outages across the globe.

The Down Detector outage map shows the Battle Net server issues mainly affecting users in the US, Australia and Malaysia.

Blizzard online gamers in the UK and Europe are also affected.

Battle Net users have taken to social networking site Twitter to report issues with Blizzard’s online service.

One user tweeted: “Battlenet not working.  Goes to regular login screen. Try that and says servers full. Log in time over an hour.”

While another added: “99 minute wait to login to battlenet this morning?  what’s going on?”

And one posted: “please find and fix this quickly it put me in a 1 hour queue just to login to battlenet.”

The Battle Net issues come after Blizzard released a new Overwatch update which patched the recently released Halloween build for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The latest Overwatch update sees Mercy get a major nerf to her resurrect ability.

Here’s why Blizzard have made the change: “This method makes Resurrect more flexible when used with Valkyrie.

“For example, in the past if you wanted to resurrect two teammates, you had to revive the first target, then activate Valkyrie (causing the Resurrect’s cooldown to reset), and then revive the other target,” a message from Blizzard explains.

“With this change, you can now activate Valkyrie and fly in quickly to resurrect both targets instantly.

“However, this still reduces the overall number of Resurrects that Mercy can provide, since Valkyrie no longer reduces its cooldown.”

It was expected that these new changes would be launched during the Halloween event and more could be on the way.

Overwatch players are currently taking part in the big Halloween Terror event, with the 2017 version featuring new skins and Junkenstein’s Revenge.

The Halloween 2017 event has an October 10 release date and runs all the way until November 2.

It brings with it a number of new skins, such as cute vampire look for Mei and a Cthulhu-style skin for Zenyatta.
