In 2019, the 22-movie spanning first saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – consisting of three phases – will come to an end.
But this will by no means be the end of the world’s highest grossing movie franchise as Saga 2’s Phase 4 will kick off with a Spider-Man Homecoming sequel and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
But with rumours of multiple Avengers deaths and of scenes set in the past, it seems very likely we will be getting some time travel thanks to Doctor Strange and the Time Infinity Stone.
This would be a clever way of resurrecting Avengers who die in Infinity War, by creating an alternate timeline in Avengers 4.
Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4 are set to have a rumoured 67 characters from across a decade of movies.
It doesn’t get anymore colossal in scale than that. So how can a franchise follow on from? An alternative timeline created by Doctor Strange really does seem like the answer.
Avengers: Infinity War will be released in UK cinemas on April 27, 2018, followed by Avengers 4 on April 26, 2019.
