The Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Edition has been hugely popular since launch, with stock selling out fast whenever it has become available.
On launch day Argos, John Lewis and Asda Direct were the only UK-based websites taking orders for the SNES Classic Mini.
Following on from that there was a dry spell of almost two weeks of no SNES Classic Mini stock on British websites.
That barren run was broken by GAME last week who started taking orders for the SNES Classic Mini on their website once again.
That SNES Classic Mini stock allocation sold out fast, with fans hoping to buy the pint-sized console flocking to the retailer’s online store.
Soon after that Toys R Us opened orders for the SNES Classic Mini, but again sold out within half an hour.
Now fans are left wondering which retailer will open SNES Classic Mini orders next, and whether they’ll be quick enough to buy one.
Argos has previously told Express.co.uk that they are expecting more SNES Classic Mini stock before Christmas.
A spokesperson said: “Customers who are unable to secure a console at launch should keep checking our website as we are expecting more stock this side of Christmas.”
And there is one way to ensure that when stock becomes available at your local Argos store next you’ll know.
On the SNES Classic Mini product page on the Argos website a fan asked in the Q&A section when stock will become available at the retailer next.
An Argos representative said: “There is no definitive restock date for the Nintendo SNES Classic Mini console at present.
“I advise checking back with the website over the course of the next few weeks.
“It may also be worth trying the following link to set up text alerts when it becomes available in your local area.”
The retailer’s rep provided a link to the Argos ‘Back In Stock’ text alert website.
On this page Argos customers can set up a text alert so that know when a product will come back in stock at their local store.
All they need to do is text Argos with the catalogue number for the product you want an alert on followed by your postcode or the town name of the store.
When the item comes back in stock, you will then receive a text message letting you know it’s available.
The message is usually sent around 8am on weekdays and 9am on weekends.
If you reply RESERVE the product will then be held at your store of choice for 24 hours.
The simple trick will ensure anyone hoping to get a SNES Classic Mini will be guaranteed of knowing when stock will become available at Argos next.
And amid the huge rush for the SNES Classic Mini, Nintendo have tried to reassure fans about how much stock will be available.
Fans who so far have been unable to secure a SNES Classic Mini may be tempted to turn to eBay to secure a pint-sized console.
But Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has warned AGAINST doing this and assured fans about stock availability.
In an interview with the Financial Times, he said that Nintendo had “dramatically increased” production for the SNES Classic Mini.
This comes after its predecessor, the NES Classic Mini, was discontinued after suffering widespread stock shortages worldwide.
Reggie told gamers not to pay above the RRP for a SNES Classic Mini and suggested the console WILL be widely available.
He said: “I would strongly urge you not to over-bid on an SNES Classic on any of the auction sites . . . You shouldn’t [have to] pay more than $79.99.”
