Chelsea news: Antonio Conte in similar situation to Jose Mourinho at Man Utd – Burley

That is the view of ESPN FC pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley.

Conte has been vocal about his displeasure of off-the-field issues at Stamford Bridge after a poor start on it this term.

Chelsea have lost three of their opening eight games of the Premier League season, putting their title defence in serious doubt.

Reports earlier this week claimed Mourinho is unhappy with Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and Burley says his frustrations are similar to Conte’s.

“We talk about Jose Mourinho and potential issues with the board and directors and the football people behind the scenes,” Burley said.

“I think clearly there is a similar scenario here.

“There’s no smoke without fire, Antonio Conte’s been making noises for a while.

“I hardly think they are in trouble after winning the league the year before.

“It’s a problematic time in terms of getting results.

“I’m sick and tired of these managers when they’re getting their success and they’re out there lauding it up, out on the field applauding the fans.

“As soon as it takes a bit of a turn, then all of a sudden ‘there’s problems at the club, I haven’t got this player’.

“He turned Chelsea around last year so it’s up to him to try and do it again.”
