Star Wars 8 Last Jedi: Snoke’s backstory TEASED by Andy Serkis – ‘You’re on to something’

The actor, who plays the mysterious villain in the franchise, has seemingly answered fears that Snoke’s history will never be addressed on-screen.

Rian Johnson, who has directed upcoming chapter The Last Jedi, has already confirmed that the character’s previous life will not be explored any time soon.

Serkis, however, has confirmed that that’s not because it hasn’t been written.

“Oh yeah, absolutely I know it [Snoke’s past],” he told IGN.

As for what exactly Snoke wants from Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Serkis was similarly cagey.

“Oh man, that’s so confidential I can’t possibly talk about it,” he said.

“I’m sorry, I would love to tell you…. All I can is you’re onto something.”

The Last Jedi’s full trailer released last week and finally gave fans a look at Snoke in the flesh, after he only appeared in hologram form in Episode 7.

What’s more, the character seemed to be torturing hero Rey (Daisy Ridley), fuelling speculation that she will be captured.

It’s also been floated that one other major character could be beheaded, after a hidden shot was noticed in a behind-the-scenes reel.

Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi is out on December 14 in the UK.
