Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 could see the return of a vital feature

Samsung has had a stellar 2017 with both its and Note 8 winning numerous awards and five star reviews.

With stunning designs including AMOLED edge-to-edge displays, fast performance and improved cameras, it’s not hard to see why so many people have been so impressed with Samsung’s latest range of phones.

However, the S8 and Note 8 both include a hugely irritating issue that’s been criticised since they first launched.

Due to the all-screen design, Samsung had to move the fingerprint scanner to rear of the phone.

They also placed it right next to the camera which means users often place their mucky fingerprints all over the lens – not ideal when you’re about to snap a photo.

It’s thought Samsung has been close to to cracking the technology that would allow them to return the scanner to its original place on the front of the phone.

Placing this vital sensor under the screen would be something many Samsung fans would like  to see and a new report suggests it could be coming on Samsung’s next generation devices.

According to KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the Galaxy Note 8 may well have an embedded fingerprint scanner which will work when users touch the display.

In a note seen by , KGI Securities says that three companies are currently in talks with Samsung about supplying this technology.

It’s unclear if the Galaxy S9 will also include a front fingerprint scanner but it would certainly give Samsung the edge over arch-rivals Apple.

The US technology firm’s iPhone X goes on sale early next month with this new flagship ditching the Touch ID button in favour of facial recognition.

Some reports have suggested that Apple was also attempting to include an embedded fingerprint scanner on its iPhone X but couldn’t get it perfected in time for the November launch.

Samsung fans may not have too long to wait to see what the company has in store for the S9 with a launch expected in the first few months on 2018.

Mobile World Congress is often used by Samsung to reveal its new smartphones with next year’s show opening its doors on February 26.

And it could be the device to watch out for.

to be the first manufacturer to ship the company’s latest and greatest silicon.

Samsung Galaxy S9 could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 – the successor to the Snapdragon 835 processor.

It would not be the first time Samsung and Qualcomm made this type of exclusivity deal.

Last year, the Samsung Galaxy S8 was the first smartphone to ship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.
