In some light, amusing news on a gloomy day for severe weather, a false Jim Corr account – which the real Jim has complained about several times – used Hurricane Ophelia as an opportunity to sell records.
The hoax profile posted: “Thunder only happens when it’s raining -The Ultimate Corrs Collection available to buy online now. God bless. Jim. #Ophelia.”
One person replied: “Nothing like trying to sell a few albums while the country is taking a pasting. Good on you Jim #ophelia#leavemebreathless.”
“Got to admire Big Jim Corr for capitalising on that Ophelia #content,” quipped another.
Jim has bemoaned the prankster for quite some time.
In July, he wrote: “Dear nice people at @twitter @TwitterSupport @verified would you kindly remove this fake account @therealjimcorr I’d be ever so grateful :-)”.
He also raged a few years ago: “@therealjimcorr You stupid t**t, when your identity is confirmed you’ll be through the courts so fast your head will spin!”
The Corrs are in the midst of a successful second wind, with their seventh studio album Jupiter Calling due out in November.
They previously made a big comeback in 2015 with the album White Light, which peaked at No11 in the UK and was certified Gold for certified sales in excess of 100,000 copies.
They enjoyed a string of smash hits in their heyday, with Breathless becoming their only Number One single back in 2000.
The likes of So Young, Dreams, What Can I Do and Runaway also gave them Top 10 success.
