Rafael Nadal vs Roger Federer: What time is the Shanghai Masters final?

Nadal and Federer have set up a mouthwatering final in Shanghai after coming through a packed draw this week.

The Spaniard progressed to the final after overcoming Marin Cilic in straight sets in his semi-final.

Federer was almost on the wrong-end of an upset in his last four match against Juan Martin del Potro after the Argentine won the opening set, but the world No2 fought back to win.

Despite the two sporting legends facing off 37 times in their professional careers, Nadal and Federer have never met at the Shanghai Masters.

They have met in the Chinese city twice during the Tennis Masters Cup with Federer winning both matches.

It promises to be another enticing affair between to two tennis giants and here’s when the action is scheduled to start.

When does Rafael Nadal face off against Roger Federer?

Both Nadal and Federer have dropped just one set in the Shanghai Masters leading up to today’s final.

Play is scheduled to begin play at 9.30am BST

Nadal is seeded No1 for the tournament and could further secure his place at the top of the rankings with a win over his nearest rival Federer.

But the Swiss legend has won all three encounters against Nadal this year so far.

Whatever the outcome, Federer is delighted to have another chance at facing his long-term Grand Slam rival at another final.

“It’s nice at this late stage of the career that we still have these matches going on,” Federer said.

“There is only going to be a few chances for either player, and sometimes it’s just who blinks at the wrong time.

“I’m not sure what the [head-to-head] stat is because most of them, half of them, maybe, were in finals and that’s why the rivalry is so special.

“I enjoy playing against him even if the head-to-head is not in my favour. He’s one of the guys who’s made me a better player. I don’t want to thank him for that, but it made me go back and rework my game.”
