The Rock releases Hobbs trailer: His Furious 9 co-star blasts ‘SELFISH F***ED-UP’ spin-off

The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson, proudly launched the first trailer for his new spin-off, Hobbs.

Over five million fans have already liked the first glimpse footage but one very famous friend is simply furious and has been pretty fast expressing why.

The new movie will only star Johnson’s character Hobbs, plus Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw. It has also meant that Fast and Furious’ ninth movie has been pushed way back to 2020.

Tyrese Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce in the Fast & Furious franchise, launched a blistering attack online.

Gibson told TMZ:  “I just got a problem with Dwayne, it appears that he’s being selfish. It appears that he’s so focussed on furthering his own self-interest. He’s making decisions from the seat he is sitting in… it’s f***ed up.”

In a previous post he angrily attacked the delayed 2020 release date for Furious 9: “Fast Family right? Nah, it’s about Team Dwayne. Three years, will it be worth the wait?”

He even had a blatant dig by comparing the spin-off without Furious regular Shaw to Johnson’s recent flop.

Gibson said: “No Shaw just Hobbs – will this be another BayWatch?”

Johnson needs a surefire hit after his much-touted Baywatch reboot with Zac Effron sank without a trace at the domestic US and international box offices.

The sneak peak at Hobbs shows that he is not straying too far from the tried and tested Fast and Furious template.

The brief dialogue is hardly Shakespeare but effectively sets the tone.

The Rock rumbles: “Let me tell you something. Me and you. One on one. I will beat your ass like a cherokee drum.”

Statham growls in return: “Maybe one day we’ll find out.”

Cue fights scenes and lots of pumped men in orange prison suits. What more could you want?
