Nice try, Kim! Missile chief says North Korea have NO CHANCE of attacking USA

Lt. Gen. James Dickinson, the commander of Army Space and Missile Defence Command, says he is confident the US could defend against any missile attack from North Korea.

The general recently visited Guam, Japan and South Korea on a trip to the Asia Pacific region.

He has previously served in Korea and Japan and said that although “the theatre has changed significantly” for combat and military strategy, he was still confident the US could defend itself and its allies in the region.

North Korea has accelerated ballistic missile testing since crazed dictator assumed power.

Over the summer Kim’s regime tested an intercontinental ballistic missile with the ability to reach San Diego and New York City.

But Lt. Gen. Dickinson said the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) system was placed to shoot down short- and medium-range missiles.

The system has a 100% success rate in tests, and is stationed in both Guam and South Korea.

The general also expressed confidence in defence systems in Alaska and California, which were put to the test earlier this year, reports.

In addition he praised modernisation efforts in South Korea, as it is in the process of bringing in new computer defence systems which will help plan defensive efforts.

Lt. Gen. Dickinson appeared confident in defence systems despite an escalation of hostile rhetoric between North Korea and US President Donald Trump that has led to fears of World War 3.

North Korea says it has taken President Trump’s threats of “fire and fury” as a “declaration of war” and threatened to shoot down US planes not in its airspace.

And foreign policy experts believe the hermit dictatorship is .

James Clapper, a former director of National Intelligence who served under Obama, said: “I think in their mind, they can easily construe what he’s been saying as a declaration or at least a threat of war.

“It does increase my concerns… Threats such as what came out of Trump’s United Nations General Assembly speech that we are going to totally destroy North Korea.

“Words like that only heighten the paranoia and cause, I think, the regime to counter with more provocative acts.

“So I wouldn’t be surprised if they have another missile test or something.”

Trump has threatened to “totally destroy North Korea” and mocked Kim by calling him “rocket-man”.
