Grand Designs Kevin McCloud net worth: British designer has fortune of THIS much

Kevin, 58, has presented Grand Designs since the late 1990s.

He studied history of art and architecture at Cambridge, setting up his own lighting business after gradutating.

His work includes the ceiling in the food halls of Harrods and lighting fittings at Ely Cathedral, the Savoy Hotel and Edinburgh Castle.

He published his first book in 1990, with further books following in 1995 and 1996.

But Kevin is best known across the UK for his television work, which includes Grand Designs, Grand Designs Abroad, and Grand Designs Indoors.

He also editor-at-large for Grand Designs magazine, and is heavily involved with Grand Designs Live.

It is not just TV work keeping Kevin busy, as he set up HAB Housing Limited in 2007, building 42 homes in Swindon.

Kevin was appointed MBE in the 2014 New Year’s Honours for services to sustainable design and energy saving property refurbishment.

So how much is Kevin McCloud worth? According to Celebrity Networth, Kevin enjoys a fortune of £2.2million.

They do not break down from which ventures they believe this money to have come from.

Kevin provides lots of advice on Grand Designs for would-be property developers and renovators to follow.

There is one big mistake he has seen time and again in his years working on the show.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Kevin, 58, said: “The biggest mistake – not planning. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

“One couple in this series had started on their project 14 years ago, it is a long haul endeavour.

“These things are never a year, and you need to spend a long time on them.

“When you get to construction that’s when it gets expensive, so it is best to be prepared and plan properly.”
