LIVE UPDATES:

02:28 (21:28 ET): Tickets now seem to be gradually going on sale and fans aren’t wasting any time.

“Tickets to #TheLastJedi have been acquired,” said one user on Twitter, while another confirmed: “Heads up: Star Wars: #TheLastJedi tickets are already on sale…”

In the UK, they’ll be out at 7am tomorrow morning.

02:13 (21:13 ET): Expert trolling from Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) on Twitter earlier today.

Asked by a follower to tease the trailer in three words, he said simply: “ON TV TONIGHT!!!”

Thanks for that, Mark…

02:06 (21:06 ET): Isn’t the new poster (above) wonderful? The gorgeous red design aligns with the character posters shared at D23 in July, and it’s rammed full of the incredible ensemble cast.

Rian Johnson said: “We had a stunning teaser poster that we revealed at Celebration a while back, and so this takes some of the visual elements of that.

“This is the final payoff poster and so it has a lot more of the cast on it, a lot more elements to it, but the tricky thing is to try and fit this many folks on it!

“How do you do that in a way that’s elegeant.. and I think the folks at Disney found a beautiful shape to it and dramatically it gives you a sense of what you’re in for with Eight.”

He also tweeted enthusiastically: “Ok I am almost done talking about this movie tonight I promise but LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL THING”

‘Almost done’? Still got the trailer to go yet, Rian…

He added: “You can see Kylo’s shuttle, and I really love Carrie [Fisher] in this.

“I love how she is dead centre and just nailing you with those eyes.

“She’s wearing my favourite costume of hers in the movie, a really dramatic… I wanted her to just look fabulous.”

02:03 (21:03 ET): It’s anyone’s guess when exactly the trailer will drop.

We know it’ll be at halftime of the NFL Bears vs Vikings match, now airing on ESPN in the US and Sky Sports Action in the UK.

Estimates put that at around 3am (BST) but director Rian Johnson, appearing on Twitter’s new What’s Happening show, said “ninety minutes” soon after 1am (BST) / 8pm (ET) – so it could be just around the corner.
