Samsung Galaxy S8 text messages are disappearing, but there might be a fix

If you own a and have noticed problems receiving texts from friends and family – you’re not alone.

A number of Galaxy S8 owners have reported problems with disappearing messages.

The frustrating glitch appears to have affected Galaxy S8 owners in the United States, with several prominent mobile carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint, acknowledging the issues online.

However, a minority of users in Canada, Australia and the UK have also reported problems.

The issue stops a random selection of users’ text messages arriving to the smartphone, which makes it almost more annoying than a complete malfunction.

The problem is not limited to the default SMS app, but instead appears to affect every app.

Worse still – no warning is presented to users sent, leaving them oblivious to the issue.

Users have flooded social news site Reddit to discuss the problem.

Most of those experiencing trouble appear to be using a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+, however, there have been reports of problems with other Samsung handsets, including the S7 Edge.

Writing on Reddit, one user said: “Oh wow, I honestly thought it was just my mom’s ancient flip phone not sending messages.

“Turns out it actually was my newfangled smartphone.”

Another added: “Ahhh. I missed some important work texts earlier in the week that resulted in me dragging my ass into the office three hours early, only to find out that I didn’t have to.”

Some owners claim to have fixed the issue by turning off Advanced Messaging within the Samsung SMS app.

However, other users have tried this fix – and have not seen an improvement.
