Israel destroys Hamas outpost as ARMY respond to earlier rocket fire, military reports

The explosive was fired on Sunday and caused panic as air raid sirens rang in Southern Israel, but ended up landing in Palestinian territory – in response, the Israeli military deployed a tank to target the Hamas outpost.

Israeli military said: “In response, a tank targeted and destroyed a Hamas outpost in the southern Gaza Strip.”

Following the Red Alert signals, families living in the Gaza strip were shaken as they ran for cover.

Gadi Yarkoni, the head of the Eshkol Regional Council, stated: “Unfortunately, the holiday peace was interrupted by a siren in a number of towns in the council, but, fortunately, we have been updated that nothing fell in the council’s territory.

“We are in constant contact with the security forces, and there is no change in the instructions for self defence.

“I call on all the residents of Eshkol and our guests to continue enjoying the atmosphere of the holiday and autumn in Eshkol.”

Gaza officials have confirmed that no one was killed or injured in the observation tower attack.

After the recent rocket scare, Israel struggled to identify who launched the rocket after no claims of responsibility were made.

Israel has stated that it holds the terror group responsible for tensions in the region.

Hamas agreed to a ceasefire with Israel in 2014 – however small numbers of terrorists have persisted in provoking the nation with infrequent rocket launches.

The terrorists typically identify potential targets that could be picked apart by Israel after a provocation.

The rocket launch brings an end to a quiet period on the Israel-Gaza border.

Hamas has previously thrown disarmament suggestions from its neighbours out the window.

The group took control of the Gaza Strip in 2007 in a violent conflict after Israel retreated from the territory two years previously.
