Ings clarification

05:30: Danny Ings is adamant leaving Liverpool would “grate” on him for the rest of his career.

The 25-year-old has suffered and battled back from two long-term injuries.

Ings has become something of the forgotten man at Anfield, as Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have flourished this term, scoring seven goals between them in the Premier League.

But Ings isn’t ready to turn his back on the Reds just yet despite his injury woes.

“It would grate on me for the rest of my career, and the rest of my life, if I had not done everything to give it my all,” he told The Times.

“I still feel like I have a big part to play in this football club.”

Can shock move

05:00: Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Emre Can with their chief scout Javier Ribalta taking a look at the Liverpool midfielder.

Can has entered the final year of his contract and is yet to reach an agreement over an extension.

United look set to be in the market for a midfielder next summer with Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera’s contracts terminating at the end of the season.

And according to Italian outlet Tuttosport, United scout Ribalta has watched Can and Mourinho is seeking top class replacements for Carrick and Herrera.

The report stresses Liverpool will not sell Can in January, meaning the transfer wrangle could go on until next summer.

Klopp support

04:30: Jurgen Klopp is the right man for Liverpool and he needs time to fulfil his aims, according to Kevin Keegan.

Klopp has taken some flak as he undergoes his most trying spell in his two years in charge of the Anfield outfit.

Sitting seventh in the table, and seven points adrift off the Manchester clubs, a top-four finish appears to be more realistic than winning the title.

And former Liverpool star Keegan thinks that while the Reds are similar in style to the swashbuckling football his Newcastle side used to play, he is adamant the board should be patient with the German tactician.

“I enjoy watching Liverpool — I think he’s definitely the right guy,” Keegan said.

“He gets Liverpool, he gets the humour. The fans like him. They don’t want a manager with a notepad, they want him kicking every ball.

“I think he’s a great manager. He fits Liverpool. You can understand what he is saying, he doesn’t talk in riddles, he says what he thinks.”

Coutinho doubt for Man Utd clash

04:00: Liverpool could face United without Philippe Coutinho and Firmino after the international break, according to reports.

Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday October 14 – just two days after Coutinho and Firmino arrive back from Brazil duty.

And The Metro claim Liverpool could be without the Brazilian duo against United as they may struggle to be 100 per cent fit.

Both Coutinho and Firmino are expected to face Chile in Brazil’s final World Cup qualifier, which finishes in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Sao Paulo.

The pair will then return back to England in a private jet immediately after the game.
