Evil Within 2 executive producer Shinji Mikami has revealed why the horror series might not be the best fit for Nintendo Switch.
With Evil Within 2’s October release date creeping up fast, Express Online spoke to the Resident Evil creator and Tango Gameworks founder about the possibility of a Nintendo Switch port.

Mikami said that it’s not for him to decide whether the game comes to Switch, and that The Evil Within might not be totally suitable.
“I think something like Evil Within is best to experience on a big screen,” Mikami revealed.

“I think switch could be good for horror, but the horror should be designed for the Switch.”
And the Tango Gameworks boss knows a thing or two about survival horror, having directed the very first Resident Evil, Resident Evil 4 and the original Evil Within.
Shinji Mikami worked as a consultant for Evil Within 2, which was directed by John Johanas.
Johanas directed highly-rated Evil Within DLC episode ‘The Assignment’ and ‘The Consequence’.
The sequel will place a greater emphasis on story and will feature larger areas that players are free to explore.
But despite the shift to larger maps and non-linear sections, Johanas told Express Online that you would never feel completely safe.
Instead, the open areas are designed to combat the suffocating feeling of the original game.
“It was actually intentionally to not have the suffocating feeling of the original game, because we too thought that it was a little too much and we wanted people to have a little break,” Johanas said.
“But we wanted to keep that little bit of dread and that little bit of tension so that when you’re exploring you don’t feel completely safe.”
Evil Within 2 has an October 13 release date on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
