Xbox One Backwards Compatibility UPDATE: Two new Xbox 360 games releasing today

Today will see the launch of Fable Anniversary and Fable II Pub Games.

Microsoft made the announcement via Larry Hryb on Twitter, making it the first for the new month of October.

The Fable Anniversary edition has had strong back for its Xbox One Backwards Compatibility inclusion via the official leaderboards site.

Over 34,000 votes have been cast to see it added to the library, while the Pub Games received a much more modest 2,500.

Microsoft had already confirmed the Xbox One news that Fable Anniversary would be added to the library earlier this year, so its announcement today might not come as a huge surprise.

As mentioned above, both will be made playable today via disc install, or digital market purchase.

You can also expect that both will be made available on the Xbox marketplace for anyone who wants to fill in their missing Fable collections.

The Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program currently boasts over 400 games and continues to provide regular new additions.

And while a lot of the most requested titles have now been added, Microsoft still have plans to add a few more.

The most popular games not available as part of the scheme include the Call of Duty Modern Warfare trilogy, Skyrim and Batman: Arkham City.

The Backwards Compatible library recently got a major boost at the end of September with the launch of four popular Halo titles.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 are all now backwards compatible on Xbox One.

This includes all of the original campaigns and multiplayer.

Even better news is that the Halo games come with free DLC, which means even more maps for multiplayer.

The Halo series took longer than expected to come to backwards compatibility, as 343 spent more time making sure they were up to scratch.

“We know everyone is very eager to get their hands on the Xbox One back-compat release of Halo: CE Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, and Halo 4,” reads a recent 343 blog post.

“We are eager to get them into your hands! The Xbox back-compat team is hard at work on final polish and we continue to work closely with them to help test and evaluate all four games for launch.

“We’re taking extra time to ensure the experience lives up to fan expectations but I hear we’re making great progress and release should be getting closer.”
