League of Legends Worlds 2017: Schedule and times for LoL eSports Championship

The League of Legends Worlds eSports Championship event kicks off at 8am (BST) today, with the usual opening ceremony planned.

This will be followed by the first Group Stage match of Royal Never Give Up vs 1907 Fenerbahçe.

Other matches scheduled for Day One include:

  • 9:30 AM – G2 Esports vs Samsung Galaxy
  • 10:30 AM – Longzhu Gaming vs Immortals
  • 11:30 AM – Fnatic vs GIGABYTE Marines
  • 12:30 PM – SK telecom T1 vs Cloud9
  • 1:30 PM – Edward Gaming vs ahq e-Sports Club

LoL eSports will be available to watch on the Riot Games Twitch account, as well as the official Youtube Channel.

Worlds 2017 included 24 teams battling it out in the official tournament in China, with all 13 LoL professional leagues represented across multiple stages.

The Worlds 2017 tournament has now reached the Group Stage, with all 16 qualifying teams spread across Group A, B, C and D.

The Group Stage will take place over two weeks, while the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals being held a week apart from one another.

  • Dates: October 5-8 at 3:00 PM CST and October 12-15 at 12:00 PM CST
  • Location: Wuhan Sports Center Gymnasium in Wuhan, China

Teams competing to become 2017 World Champions also have the chance to grab the lion’s share of the largest portion of a prize pool of at least $2.25 million. 

Riot Games have confirmed that a percentage of sales for certain Worlds-related content in the League of Legends store will also be added to the prize pool.

Prize Pool breakdown below:

  • World Champion: 37.5% of prize pool
  • 2nd place: 13.5%
  • 3rd/4th place: 7%
  • 5th-8th place: 4%
  • 9th-12th place: 2.25%
  • 13th-16th place: 1.25%
  • 17th-20th place: 0.75%
  • 21st-24th place: 0.50%
