Battlegrounds Xbox One release news: PUBG PS4 delay boost for Xbox One X

Battlegrounds on Xbox One has a release date set for the end of 2017.

And Microsoft and Bluehole Inc.have confirmed that they are doing everything to help speed up the process of launching the preview version of the game.

It was revealed earlier this year that developers were already working with a version of PUBG on Xbox One X, which could point to an enhanced version arriving around the same time as the initial launch.

“We have a version running here on the Xbox One X dev kit which runs pretty well, and it’s not even optimized yet,” PlayerUnknown – Brendan Greene said at the time.

“It’s a completely unoptimized port of the PC version, and we’re getting over 30 fps.”

And there could be even better news on the horizon for Battlegrounds fans who are looking to buy Microsoft’s Xbox One X.

Sources have told Bloomberg that Bluhole Inc. are in discussions with Microsoft to extend the game’s exclusive period.

So far, we know that PUBG on PS4 is a likely outcome, with Bluehole founder Chang Byung-gyu confirming talks were on with other console companies to bring the game to a larger audience.

However, this will only happen in 2018 and it could be a lot later in some would have predicted.

“South Korea’s Bluehole Inc. has agreed to produce the game for Microsoft first by the end of the year and is likely to give the company a longer period as the solo console, said the people, asking not to be identified because the matter is private,” Bloomberg reports.

“Games are typically offered exclusively for about three months to encourage people to buy a particular console, so Xbox may have the game to itself until the middle of next year or longer.”

And that can only mean good things for the Xbox One X, which launches this November into a buy console market.

While the Xbox One X will not have its own exclusives, having a big game like Battlegrounds running enhanced on the console will likely give it a boost against the likes of the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Battlegrounds takes place on a remote island where 100 players compete to be the sole survivor.

Similar to games like DayZ, players must gather supplies, armour and weapons in order to defeat other players.

And in a unique twist, the battleground actually gets smaller as games go on.

“Players will enter a last-man-standing battle where they try to locate weapons, vehicles and supplies in a graphically and tactically rich battleground that eventually forces players into a shrinking play zone as they engage in a tense and spectacular fight to the death,” reads a Bluehole statement.
