Forget the OnePlus 5 – Rumours suggest the OnePlus 6 could be coming soon

The OnePlus 5 has been giving its expensive rivals nightmares ever since it was launched earlier this year.

This £449 smartphone is packed with features that you’d usually find on flagship phones costing hundreds of pounds more.

In fact the cheaper OnePlus 5 has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor that powers almost ever other top-end device including some versions of the Galaxy S8.

There’s also a 5.5-inch display, dual-lens camera and the ability to fast charge the battery – which allows a days power in just 30 minutes.

So what’s next for the OnePlus brand?

Over the past few years the Chinese firm has unveiled a T version of its devices which usually offers some small improvements such as speed and battery boosts.

However, if a new rumour is to be believed it seems OnePlus won’t launch a 5T model and opt for OnePlus 6 instead.

GSM Arena and Android Marvel are speculating that this new model could arrive in early 2018 with OnePlus clearly appearing to be keen to keep the competition on their toes.

Although the were good some were critical that it looked too much like Apple’s iPhone and others thought it was a shame the Chinese tech firm hadn’t included an edge-to-edge screen.

So the OnePlus 6 may push the boundaries of design and add a bigger display and new features such as wireless charging.

It’s currently unclear if these latest reports are true with OnePlus not usually launching new devices until the Summer.

in a unique collaboration with the French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

The new look is part of limited edition run, although OnePlus remains tight-lipped about exactly how long the new design will be available.

Dubbed OnePlus 5 JCC+, the refreshed flagship smartphone now sports a bright blue On/Off button on its side, as well as scrawled writing across the back of the phone.

On the back of the OnePlus 5 JCC+, the name of the collaboration – “Callection” – is signed in grey.

“I always like looking towards the future,” Jean-Charles de Castelbajac said of the project with OnePlus.

“To change the world, you always need to be creative and work with people who are ahead of their time.”
