Arsenal News: Manchester United think Mesut Ozil has a problem with Arsene Wenger

Ozil looks likely to leave Arsenal either in January or the end of the season with his contract expiring in July.

Manchester United have emerged as a shock destination, with Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho a fan of the Germany international.

Mourinho managed the player while at Real Madrid, helping Ozil become a household name in La Liga.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon claims the 54-year-old is aware that the Arsenal star is keen to leave so he can play under someone other than Wenger.

It is said the Red Devils manager feels Ozil has a problem plying his trade under the Frenchman and that is why he is seeking a new challenge elsewhere.

Don Balon add United are keen on the World Cup winner for two reasons.

They supposedly feel he would strengthen their ranks, despite having Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at their disposal.

Mkhitaryan, in particular, has started the season in breathtaking form but his fine displays may not deter Mourinho from strengthening in his position.

Additionally, Mourinho would also love to weaken another direct rival.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal star Stewart Robson thinks the Gunners would be open to selling Ozil should they receive an offer for him in January.

“I think they’re at that stage (where they want to sell Ozil in January),” Robson said.

“Ozil has shown no indication to sign a contract at Arsenal.

“The problem that Arsenal have if they do want to sell him is that he is on so much money, is there going to be another club willing to pay him the sort of money that he would want?

“So that’s going to be their major problem.”
