Zlatan Ibrahimovic spent four years at PSG before sealing a move to United in 2016.
And while the Swede found the net 113 times in 122 league games and won Ligue 1 four times, things weren’t always rosy on the pitch with his team-mates.
Rabiot admits the pair had a heated exchange during a friendly match in the US.
“The first encounter with Ibrahimovic took place during a friendly match in the United States,” Rabiot told Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Zlatan got pissed on me because I played stupidly. But he had lost the ball and I had to take a card to compensate for his mistake.
“I became angry and insulted Zlatan. It was not smart.
“The other incident was in training. We were close to fighting.
“But Zlatan was annoyed that day. He likes guys like me, who have character, and we are friends now.”
Ibrahimovic, who celebrates his 36th birthday today, remains sidelined after suffering a serious knee injury in the Europa League last season.
Jose Mourinho is expecting to use the striker’s services in the second half of the season when United hope to be challenging in the league and in European competition.
Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in his first year at Old Trafford and his replacement Romelu Lukaku is already striving to achieve a similar feat come the end of the campaign.
The Belgian has scored 11 times in all competitions for the Red Devils this season.
