Pokemon Go news: New update reveals Halloween event 2017 launch

While we slowly see the end of the Equinox event this week, Niantic look to be cooking something new up for October.

A post on the official Pocket Monster website reveals that a spooky new Pokemon Go update is being worked on.

No details were confirmed, but it appears fans can look forward to the launch of new bonuses and rewards.

“The Halloween season is a special time in Pokémon Go,” The Pokemon Company statement teases.

“Plenty of good stuff is coming to the game later this October, and we can’t wait to get out and about to see what sort of excitement we can scare up while catching new Pokemon to fill out our Pokedex.

“Stay tuned for more details about Pokemon Go’s Halloween event coming soon.”

This would suggest that Niantic will be releasing a new Pokemon Go news bulletin in the coming weeks, detailing what will be available near the end of the month.

Fans are also speculating that some of the first Gen 3 Pokemon could be released at this time, although Niantic have yet to provide any details on the matter.

It’s not the first time we’ve heard about the return of the Pokemon Go Halloween event, with other sources confirming its return before the announcement today.

Last year’s Halloween event saw an increase in Ghost Type Pokemon like Ghastly, Haunter, and Gengar.

As the new report point out, these three Pokemon are likely to be joined by Gen 2 Pokemon Misdreavus.

The site also suggests that Dark Pokemon will see increased spawn rates during the event, but why stop there?

Multiple Ghost Type Pokemon made their debut in Gen 3 (see the gallery below), which makes Halloween the perfect time to introduce a selection of brand new Pokemon to the game.

The original Pokemon Go Halloween event ran from October 26th to November 1st, and had included some interesting bonuses.

Trainers were able to earn double the amount of Candy every time they caught, hatched or transferred Pokémon.

Buddy Pokemon were also able to earn Candy four times as fast, which made for a very popular addition to the game.

As mentioned above, fans will also the see the end of the recent Equinox Event later this month, with Niantic confirming an October end date.
