Forget the Pixel 2 – This could be the Google product everyone wants to hear about

Google’s big night is now just a few hours away with the firm preparing to launch its new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones.

These devices will replace Google’s current lineup and are expected to include big upgrades over their predecessors.

A recent has already exposed many of the features which include the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, a new 12-megapixel camera and stereo speakers.

It’s thought the Pixel 2 will include a 5-inch 1080p display with the larger Pixel 2 XL landing with a giant 6-inch screen.

A leaked images also shows that the Pixel 2 will keep its thick bezels at the top and bottom of the device whilst the Pixel 2 XL appears to have an almost edge-to-edge screen.

So there’s clearly an exciting night ahead for fans of the Pixel but that may not be the only device unveiled at the event.

A recent tweet by San Francisco resident, Raymond Durk, claims that he spotted a new Google speaker being used.

Although there’s no way of knowing if this is a real device, it could be that a Google staff member was testing the speaker nearby when Durk stumbled across the setup process.

There had already been plenty of rumours that Google was planning to launch a new music device and this tweet could confirm it’s called the Home Mini.

We’ll find out more tomorrow but a new, and cheaper, smart speaker would make sense especially with Amazon announcing its new range of Echo devices.

The online retailer announced last week that it was refreshing its lineup of speakers with its updated Echo now starting from just £89.99.

The Home Mini could also take aim at Amazon’s hugely popular Echo Dot which links and adds Alexa voice search to any Bluetooth speaker.

launching in December and Sonos has a major announcement planned for later this week and Google will clearly be keen to attract customers before all of these new devices ariive in stores before Christmas.

There’s no official word if any of these latest leaks are true but all will be revealed later tomorrow.
