PS Plus October 2017 COUNTDOWN – Here’s when free PS4 games on PlayStation Plus go LIVE

The line-up will be going live soon, with subscribers getting a whole host of new PS4 free games.

The countdown to the new set of PlayStation Plus games dropping soon has begun, with Metal Gear Solid 5 the big name in the PS Plus October 2017 line-up.

Hideo Kojima’s swansong to the Metal Gear Solid series received rave reviews from critics upon release and will be FREE for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The other big game heading to the PS Plus October 2017 line-up for PS4 fans is Amnesia: Collection.

The new PlayStation Plus selection of free PS4 games will be going live tomorrow, however there’s no fixed release time.

Whenever a line-up is refreshed, the new selection of PlayStation Plus free games usually becomes available by midday at the latest.

They sometimes go live too in the morning, and until then you still have a chance to download the PS Plus September 2017 line-up.

September’s PlayStation Plus free games include inFAMOUS Second Son and Child of Light on .

PS3 subscribers get Truck Racer and Handball 2016, while We Are Doomed and Hatoful Boyfriend is available on both PS Vita and PS4.

The PS Plus September 2017 line-up also included That’s You, which is one of Sony’s new PlayLink titles, and for the first time a PS VR game.

RIGS: Mechanised Combat League was the first PlayStation VR game ever to be included in a PlayStation Plus line-up.

And RIGS as well as That’s You will remain a free PS4 game for PlayStation Plus members as they’re still a part of the PS Plus October 2017 line-up.

The PS Plus October 2017 line-up was revealed in a blog post of the official PlayStation Blog for Europe.

They introduced the line-up by saying: “So long September and hello October: the home of hilarious Halloween costumes, unpredictable weather patterns and – for the caffeine addicts among us – the glorious pumpkin-spiced latte.

“We hope you had fun with September’s PS Plus games.

“If you’ve not had a chance to tear across the Seattle skyline as a delinquent neon streak yet or befuddle the agents of darkness with a slew of rhyming couplets, we suggest you hop to it, because October’s titles are coming in hot and you’re gonna want your backlog looking respectable.”

Describing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the PlayStation Plus team said: “The culmination of three decades of cutting-edge development, Kojima Productions’ farewell to the Metal Gear universe brought together dozens of disparate elements to deliver an open-world stealth-action sandbox quite unlike any other.

“As legendary soldier Big Boss, it’ll be up to you to run countless incursions into the conflict-ridden territories of Afghanistan and Central Africa as you work to liberate captured comrades and recruit new personnel to rebuild your decimated private army.

“Over the course of the adventure you’ll develop new weapons, capture key targets and uncover the shadowy figures that betrayed your organisation – all in the lust for vengeance.”

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain also had a prologue – Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes – which was a previous PS Plus title.

Metal Gear Solid 5 came out back in 2015 and was Hideo Kojima’s swansong to the Metal Gear Solid series.

Kojima left Konami and the MGS series behind in a high-profile split from the studio where he made his name.

The legendary developer is now working on PS4 exclusive Death Stranding, which is being developed by Kojima Productions and published by Sony.

Metal Gear Solid 5 received rave reviews upon its release – according to Meteoritic, it’s the number one best reviewed game of 2015 for PS4 and Xbox One.

It holds a 93 Metacritic rating for PS4 and a 95 Metacritic rating for Xbox One.
