Newcastle vs Liverpool: Michael Owen reveals prediction for St James’ Park clash

That is the view of former Liverpool striker-turned-pundit Michael Owen.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were left frustrated in midweek as they could only muster up a 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow, with Philippe Coutinho equalising in in the first half after Fernando gave the hosts the lead.

This was the Reds’ second successive draw in Group E after throwing away the full three points against Sevilla earlier this month at Anfield.

And their situation in the Premier League has not been much better with the Reds picking up just four points from their last three Premier League games.

Klopp has a big problem to address in defence too with conceding 11 goals in their last six league games as they sit fifth in the table.

meanwhile have lost just one of their last five matches in the top flight, with their hiccup coming last week in the 1-0 defeat to Brighton.

But Owen reckons the Magpies will have another defeat to contend with as he expects Liverpool to bounce back from their midweek disappointment.

“I have fond memories of St James’ Park and scored a hat-trick for Liverpool in the corresponding fixtures back in 1998,”

“The Reds saved bookmakers a fortune midweek but I expect Liverpool to bounce back when travelling to Newcastle on Sunday.”

Sadio Mane is expected to return for the Reds after serving his three-match ban.

While, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne remain sidelined.

As for Newcastle, Rafa Benitez is expected to start with pretty much the same team that lost to Brighton.
