Argentina’s Aguero blow

08:13: Manchester City look set to be without Sergio Aguero for two months – and his suspected injury will also be a blow to Argentina.

Aguero’s injury means he will likely miss next week’s World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Ecuador.

Argentina currently sit fifth in the South American qualification table for the 2018 World Cup.

Only the top four nations advance automatically, with the fifth-placed side facing a playoff round against New Zealand.

Argentina have endured a disappointing qualification campaign and defeat to Peru in their opening match over this international break would be disastrous.

Argentina have Chile chasing them for fifth spot, while Paraguay and Ecuador can both mathematically trump the country.

Aguero is yet to score for Argentina in the qualification campaign.
