Luis Ortiz FAILS DRUG TEST ahead of Deontay Wilder clash: Anthony Joshua awaits winner

The 38-year-old is unbeaten in his 27 professional fights and also holds a substantial amateur record with more than 350 bouts under his belt.

Earlier this year, Anthony Joshua was ordered to fight Ortiz as his mandatory WBA challenger but that clash was delayed by the IBF’s stipulation that the Brit should face Kubrat Pulev.

Instead, Ortiz chose a fight with WBC heavyweight champion Wilder and the Barclays Center has been booked for November 4 for the contest.

However, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman revealed on Twitter that he had been informed by the Volunary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) that Ortiz had failed a test.

“@WBCBoxing has received confirmation from @Vada_Testing that Luis Ortiz has tested positive for a banned substance under #CleanBoxingProgram,” Sulaiman said.

But Express Sport understands Wilder vs Ortiz has not yet been cancelled as the WBC await full results from VADA.

Ortiz has already promised to show Wilder a different side of boxing – the American has often been criticised for dodging the best opponents.

“Wilder should sign his death sentence,” said Ortiz.

“I’m very different than anybody else that he’s fought.

“I punch harder than anybody else. I’m going to teach him not to mess with Cubans.

“Some skeptics are talking about my age, but look at [Floyd] Mayweather.

“I still have my speed and my quickness.”
