Kate Middleton and the Queen are never seen wearing THIS – so what do they wear instead?

Kate Middleton, 35, and the Queen, 91, along with other women in the royal family are never seen wearing coloured nail polish.

During her latest appearance, just before her pregnancy announcement, the Duchess was seen sporting natural-looking nails, and the same goes for Her Majesty.

The reason is, according to OK!, is royal etiquette – fake nails or coloured nails are just not appropriate.

Even Meghan Markle appeared with perfectly manicured nails without any colour for her first public appearance with beau Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Toronto earlier this week.

Only a year later the Queen became a fan of one of the brand’s neutral shades, and has stuck to it ever since.

That is, according to the company’s website.

Essie announced that Queen Elizabeth II has been wearing ‘Ballet Slippers’ for 28 years.

The very pale pink is a sedate nude, a far cry from the brightly coloured twin sets that the Queen likes to wear.

According to the website, Queen Elizabeth’s hairdresser sent Essie a letter asking for the nail polish, as it was the only one the Queen would wear.

Essie describes the colour as “an iconic colour for all the seasons”.

The colour has another royal fan in Kate Middleton.

The shade is the exact same one that the Duchess of Cambridge wore on her wedding day.

Kate has made quite the impression with her style, from dresses that sell out in seconds to her love for affordable trainer brands like Superga. But now a new style trick of the Duchess’ means you can wear sky high heels all day long like her too
