PSN down – PS4 users on Virgin Media AGAIN hit by ’server maintenance’ error

UPDATE ONE: Hundreds of PSN users have reported that the service is down today, with the outage seemingly affecting Virgin Media customers in the main.

It’s the second time in as many days that Virgin Media customers have said that PSN is down and not working for them.

On Wednesday thousands of PSN users were unable to access the PS4 online gaming service, and the Ask PlayStation UK Twitter account said it was a Virgin Media issue.

The telecommunications giant have updated Express.co.uk on the latest issues affecting PSN users today.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “We are aware of an issue affecting some Virgin Media customers accessing PSN and we are working with Sony to investigate.

“This is not due to a fault on Virgin Media’s network.”

ORIGINAL: PSN is down for hundreds of users who are Virgin Media customers, with the fans being greeted with a ‘server maintenance’ error message once again.

The PS4 online gaming service was not working for thousands of customers who reported  in the UK yesterday.

PSN users were faced with a NP-34957-8 error message when they tried to log online while using Virgin Media.

The issues began around 8am BST and lasted for most of the day, with the problem seeming to get fixed around 6.30pm.

The Ask PlayStation UK Twitter account had been busy responding to PSN fans that were left facing server issues.

However, @ASKPS_UK told PSN users that their engineers had said the problem was a Virgin Media issue.

The Virgin Media Twitter account was busy responding to users who said the service was down yesterday and had received the PSN maintenance server error.

And they have been again today as hundreds of people have reported issues with the service.

Independent website Down Detector has received hundreds of reports from fans since 8am today that PSN is down.

Virgin Media has been advising customers to follow this advice to get PSN working again.

In a message to one customer, they said: “Sorry to hear that, Can you log out of PSN, then do a full reset of your console, powering it down completely for a short while then turning it back on please?”

PSN and Virgin Media users have taken to Twitter today to report issues with the service.

One user tweeted: “PSN still down!!! #PS4 #playstationnetwork #virginmedia”.

While another said: “@AskPS_UK hello, my psn has been down for maintenance for the last 2 days I am with virgin media internet any ideas?”

And one added: “@virginmedia PSN Sign-in issues once again?”

The PSN server status website says all services are up and running, however they do have a message for some users.

The update says: “PlayStation™Network services are up and running in your area, but several reports suggest that your local Internet is having problems that might affect your ability to sign in.

“Contact your Internet service provider for more information.”

It comes after the Ask PlayStation UK Twitter account tweeted yesterday to say the PSN down issues users were experiencing was a Virgin Media issue.

They tweeted: “Engineers have now confirmed this is a Virgin Media issue. Please contact them for further assistance with connecting your console!”
