ISIS OBLITERATED: British jets have smashed evil caliphate with 1,500 airstrikes

ISIS has now lost three quarters of its territory in Iraq and over 60 per cent of its hold in Syria.

UK jets and drones have destroyed targets including weapons stores and mortar teams as the country helps to defeat the jihadi group.

Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon said: ”Britain has made a major contribution to the campaign that has crippled Daesh since 2014, forcing this miserable cult from the gates of Baghdad to the brink of defeat in Raqqa.

”By air, land and sea UK personnel have played a tireless role in striking targets and training allies.”

Last week, forces destroyed 17 IS targets in Syria in just 24 hours.

Royal Air Force Typhoon and Tornado jets have flown more than 8,000 sorties carrying out strikes, surveillance, reconnaissance and refuelling missions.

The RAF believes that it has killed over 3,000 jihadis since the government approved strikes in September 2014.

Earlier this month during a trip to Iraq, Sir Michael Fallon announced that drone pilots could be awarded medals for their efforts in eradicating IS.

He said that a medal would be created and handed to those who have fought ISIS, describing the group as “the evil of our time.”

The UK makes up part of a coalition of 68 partners from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Americas that have committed to eradicating the terror cult.
