Ring of Fire MAP: Where is the Bali volcano? Terrifying chain of volcanoes around Pacific

This map shows that Bali’s Mount Agung is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is the world’s most active earthquake belt.

Nearly 100,000 evacuees have fled the danger zone that stretches 7.5 miles from Mount Agung amid warnings that it is about to erupt.

The Ring of Fire is a long chain of active volcanoes and earthquake sites that run around the edge of the Pacific Ocean.

It is believed that about 90% of all earthquakes occur along the horse-shaped ring that covers several tectonic plates.

The 25,000-mile ring stretches all the way from South America and North America to Japan and New Zealand on the other side of the ocean.

Sitting on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, Indonesia has nearly 130 active volcanoes, more than any other country.

Mount Agung is the highest volcano on Bali – a popular honeymoon destination in the vast Indonesian archipelago.

Indonesia, which has more than 17,000 islands, straddles the equator between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

The highest possible alert remains in place for Mount Agung after many hundreds of tremors were recorded today.

Nearly 100,000 people have been evacuated in the danger zone, which extends up to 7.5 miles from Mount Agung’s crater.

Many Indonesians live near volcanoes because lava flows can make the surrounding soil and land fertile for farming.

Ash clouds from volcanoes and eruptions have disrupted tourism in Bali and other parts of Indonesia in the past.
