Red Dead Redemption 2 COUNTDOWN – Release date, trailer, announcement time, how to watch

Red Dead Redemption 2 is all set for a big reveal, with a new trailer and possibly a release date being announced by Rockstar Games.

The PS4 and Xbox One sequel to John Marston’s iconic adventure in the Wild West was meant to be released this year around about now.

However, Rockstar Games revealed in May that the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date was getting delayed till spring 2018.

In a post, the company said: “This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.”

To make up for the delay, Red Dead Redemption 2 fans are set for a huge reveal on Thursday.

Rockstar Games teased the big reveal on their social channels last week.

Last Friday they simply posted an image in the Red Dead Redemption 2 art style and font.

It simply gave the date of the announcement and the time.

The posts went viral, with the Facebook update revealing the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 announcement shared more than 22,000 times.

Ahead of the big reveal, Express.co.uk have rounded up all you need to know about the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 announcement from Rockstar Games.

Rockstar Games have already said the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date will be in spring 2018, so they may narrow it down to a specific date.

WHERE CAN I WATCH THE NEW RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 TRAILER?

Rockstar Games teased the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 reveal on their social channels.

WHAT DO WE ALREADY KNOW ABOUT RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2?

So far details on Red Dead Redemption 2 are thin on the ground with Rockstar Games only making a few announcements on the highly anticipated game.

Rockstar Games have only released one trailer so far for the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One game.

That brief teaser gave a glimpse of the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 but no indication of the storyline or the characters.

It’s been rumoured that Red Dead Redemption 2 could be a prequel, and will  star John Marston once again.

When it was announced earlier this year that the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date would be delayed, Rockstar Games released a bunch of new screenshots.

The pictures were hugely detailed and showed a number of sights from the Wild West, including bandits, steam trains and horse-drawn wagon carriages.

Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have also been treated to what is believed to be a leaked map of the game’s world.

The map shows two regions that appeared in the original Red Dead Redemption – the Tall Trees and the Great Plains areas.

The return of previous areas from Red Dead Redemption, and the possibility of it being a prequel, means that old RDR characters may make a return.

The new map, which is larger than the Red Dead Redemption map, also has plenty of areas of water.

Seeing as GTA 5 introduced underwater areas, it means in Red Dead Redemption 2 players may be able to swim for the first time in the series.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the first game Rockstar Games are building from the ground up for PS4 and Xbox One.

The largest settlement on the leaked map is called New Bordeaux – which is a fictional version of New Orleans.

The city also coincidentally appears in Mafia 3, another title published by 2K, but set in a hugely different time period.

The leaked map also shows ranches, dams, coves and cabins and an island which looks like it holds a prison.
