Real Madrid news: Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale needed big displays against Dortmund

Ronaldo and Bale produced mesmerising displays last night as away to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Ronaldo hit a double, and Bale scored with a sublime volley as the La Liga giants ensured they top Group H.

Real have looked far from the invincible side that conquered La Liga and Europe last term.

Nacho had no complaints about the display and reserved special praise for Ronaldo and Bale.

“We put in a really good performance, a 10/10,” Nacho said.

“We did well both defensively and up top. Perhaps Cristiano and Bale were in need of a night like tonight, in a game like this and at this ground.

“It’s a special night for everyone, but perhaps all the more so for them.

“The president, just like the rest of us, is pleased, because it was a very tough game.

“We came here on the back of a win over Alavés and we now have to continue on in the same vein.”

Meanwhile, in the other group game, Tottenham beat APOEL Nicosia 3-0 in Cyprus.

Real Madrid turn their attentions back to La Liga on Sunday when they face Espanyol (7.45pm).
