The character, who is seen in early pictures with pink hair, has been rumoured several times to be an antagonist for Carrie Fisher’s General Leia – but is that really the case?
YouTuber Star Wars Explained has shone new light on their relationship, thanks to Claudia Gray’s novel Leia: Princess Of Alderaan.
The book introduces Amilyn Holdo several years before The Last Jedi, and presents some interesting clues about what could be ahead.

Star Wars Explained said that though she and Leia “didn’t see eye to eye on everything” in the book, “I would be very surprised if she and Leia were directly against each-other.”
He added: “I expect that their problems will be a little more indirect.
“I think Holdo will turn out to be a good person with her heart in the right place… she will have good intentions but her actions could cause problems.
“Her lack of fear in the face of death could be a hinderance to such a small faction where every loss is felt. I could see her making rash decisions that cost lives, even if her decisions lead to victories.
