Nintendo Switch is getting this AWESOME PS4 and Xbox One feature

The Nintendo Switch has been a huge success since its launch in March, selling 4.7million units up untill the end of June.

The Switch sales figures are all the more impressive considering the console has suffered widespread stock shortages around the world.

In the six months its been on sale, the Switch has built up a great selection of first-party games.

Titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Arms have given the Switch a games library packed full of must-haves.

And with exclusives like Super Mario Odyssey around the corner, Switch owners have plenty more to look forward to.

One thing that has been sorely lacking though is the amount of apps available on the Switch.

However, this all looks set to change very soon as the Switch will be getting one of the best apps the PS4 and Xbox One has.

have reported that the Netflix app for the Nintendo Switch will have a release date any moment now.

Sources have told them the app is “locked and loaded” and is due to be released soon.

All that is needed now is the final approval from Nintendo.

The Wii and Wii U both had Netflix apps so it’s surely a matter of time before the popular video streaming service launches on the Nintendo Switch.

It should hopefully pave the way for more apps to launch on the Nintendo Switch, such as Amazon Prime Video and Spotify.

The portable nature of the Switch and the generous screen size would make it perfect for watching videos on the go.

The Switch version will hopefully follow in the footsteps of Netflix’s apps for smartphones and tablets which let users download full TV episodes and movies to their devices.

Having all your favourite shows and movies on the go alongside a great selection of games would just make the Switch an even more impressive package than it already is.

The news comes after an analyst predicted that the Nintendo Switch could become one of the best selling consoles of all time.

Credit Suisse analyst Keiichi Yoneshima predicted that the Nintendo Switch will sell a staggering 130million units over the next five years.

Credit Suisse had originally predicted the Switch would sell 70million units by 2022, but Yoneshima has almost doubled that expectation.

In a recent interview, Yoneshima said: “As Nintendo’s Switch is a unique game platform for use as either a console or handheld, there was initially some uncertainty over whether its sales cycle would more closely resemble that of a console or handheld.

“Although the Switch is currently categorised as more of a console, we expect it to sell like a handheld. Many users are in fact using the Switch as a portable according to a Famitsu survey of users.

“We previously projected a sales peak at about three years after launch (i.e., in FY3/19) on the assumption of a console-like sales cycle.

“Now that the Switch looks more likely to sell like a handheld, we update our sales forecast to reflect a longer sales cycle.

“We now expect the Switch to achieve peak sales about five years after launch (i.e., around FY3/20–21) like a typical handheld game device.

“We also raise our peak-year sales forecast from 25mn to 31mn units.”

If the Switch manages to sell 130million units that would make it the third best selling console of all time.

It would also make it Nintendo’s best selling home console ever.

The best selling console of all time is the Sony PlayStation 2, which sold a staggering 155million units in its lifetime.

In second spot, just behind the PS2, is the Nintendo DS which sold 154.02million units in its lifetime.
