iPhone owners BEWARE, Apple just increased the cost of repairing YOUR smartphone

If you’re reading this on an iPhone, you’ll probably want to tighten your grip.

While the , iPhone X, Apple Watch Series 3, and Apple TV last week, it appears Apple took the opportunity to bump-up a few prices.

The Cupertino company increased the price of some of its iPad models – as well as the price of screen repairs across the iPhone line-up.

Before the iPhone 8 launch event, Apple charged £136.44 to repair a shattered iPhone 7 screen in-store.

Since debuted its latest flagship smartphones, that price has increased to £156.44.

It’s the same across the board – iPhone 7 Plus screen repairs have gone from £156.44 to £176.44, iPhone 6S from £136.44 to £156.44, iPhone 6S Plus from £156.44 to £176.44.

Weirdly, there are some exceptions to the rule.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus screen repair prices have stayed the same, at £136.44 and £156.44 respectively.

iPhone SE and older models have also remained constant throughout the price increases.

Regardless, customers who are living with a cracked iPhone screen could now face £20 extra on their repair bill walking into an Apple Store for a repair this week – compared to eight days ago.

This is a non-trivial issue.

Half of all smartphone owners have damaged their display at least once during its lifetime, new research has revealed.

According to the research, which was conducted by mobile network O2, as many as 7.5 million Brits are walking around at any one time with a cracked phone screen.

Of those, a staggering 2.6 million people cracked their phone straight after buying it, the study revealed.

The research was conducted to promote the network’s new Free Screen Replacement Cover plans.

This new deal is available on a number of the latest flagship smartphones and allows customers who drop their new device to get the screen replaced free of charge once during the 24 months of their contract.
