EVERTON 3-0 SUNDERLAND – NIASSE

82: It’s only bloody Oumar Niasse!! Worth every penny, right? Roberto Martinez’s genius is confirmed as the £13.5million signing controls a brilliant ball by Davies with his chest before poking it home.

79: Doncaster are still very much in the game. They need a quality delivery from dead-ball situations. Surely Arsenal won’t need extra-time to squeeze past Donny?!

64: No hat-trick for Marcus Rashford tonight. Jose Mourinho replaces him with Scott McTominay.

MANCHESTER UNITED 4-0 BURTON – MARTIAL

61: Ripley won the first battle with Martial, but he certainly hasn’t won the second. After some neat link-up play between Rashford and Martial, the latter raced into the box to get in on the act.

60: Should be 4-0 at Old Trafford. Anthony Martial glides into the area with a quick one-two before trying to curl one beyond Ripley. The keeper wins this battle.

55: there’s a bit of a worried pause at the Hawthorns as Ilkay Gundogan goes down inured. Jacob delivered the tackle. I’ll keep you posted on the situation. #GundoganWatch.

66: Maitland-Niles goes close to adding to Arsenal’s tally but his shot is fairly tame and can’t squeeze past Lawlor at the near post. It’s never comfortable at 1-0, even against Doncaster.

54: Nice one-two between Jesse Lingard and Matteo Darmian is blocked before it could reach Marcus Rashford, who really wants that hat-trick.

Man Utd v Burton, Arsenal v Doncaster, Chelsea v Forest: LIVE coverage from the Carabao Cup

50: Manchester United pick up from where they left off. Luke Shaw makes a storming run and has the ball in the net but is penalised for offside. It’s tight but probably right.

60: Doncaster’s May is through on goal but a wonderful recovery from Maitland-Niles denies him. The League One side appeal for the foul after the two go should to shoulder, but nothing doing.

45: We’re back underway at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho has brought on Luke Shaw for Juan Mata. Which completely kills my goalscorer bet. Thanks, Jose.

56: Time for a little factoid on Ethan Ampadu. He’’s the youngest player to make an appearance for Chelsea since Michael Woods in Jan 2007… #PubAmmunition

55: 17-year-old Ethan Ampadu is brought on for his Chelsea debut, replacing Cesc Fabregas. High hopes for this kid.

CHELSEA 4-0 NOTTINGHAM FOREST – BATSHUAYI

53: It’s turned into a rout at Stamford Bridge with Michy Batshuayi netting his second of the night. Fabregas finds Hazard, who tees up Michy to convert.

EVERTON 2-0 SUNDERLAND – CALVERT-LEWIN

52: Young Dominic Calvert-Lewin might well be the answer to Everton’s goal scoring woes. Sandro releases DCL down the left, he makes his way into the box and finds the top corner.

48: I forgot to mention that Josh DaSilva is on for Calum Chambers. At Stamford Bridge, Dujon Sterling and Ethan Ampadu are warming up for Chelsea.

46: Arsenal have been dominant but only have the one goal to show for it. The  44,064 who’ve bought tickets will want to see a little more from their side.

45: Just as the two Manchester clubs finish ahead at the break, we’re back underway everywhere else.

HALF-TIME SCORES

Manchester United 3-0 Burton

West Brom 0-1 Manchester City

……………………………………………………….

45: Jesse Lingard bursts into the area but hits the deck after a challenge from Ben Turner. Referee Graham Scott wasn’t interested, but I think his heels might have been clipped.

43: Manchester City are gunning for a second. Danilo almost provides it after a one-two with Leroy Sane, but Foster is there to make the stop.

MANCHESTER UNITED 3-0 BURTON – LINGARD

36: Jesse Lingard is the next on the scoresheet, but it’s mighty unlucky deflection for Burton. The attacking star collects, turns and strikes from just outside the area, and a Turner deflection wrong-foots the keeper to give Manchester United an unassailable lead.

35: Don’t forget that we’re still playing in the Manchester United and Manchester City matches. The Citizens took the lead inside two minutes but it’s been pretty quiet since.

33: That’s Charly Musonda’s first Chelsea goal in his third appearance and first start for the club.

31: Normal service is resumed from Manchester United. Juan Mata weaves his way through a crowd of players before firing an effort against the post.

28: Good chance… for Burton! Varney gets the better of Lindelof before releasing Mason inside the area, but Romero comes to the rescue with a great save.

CHELSEA 3-0 NOTTINGHAM FOREST – MUSONDA

40: And two becomes three. And it’s probably the pick of the bunch too! Cesc Fabregas slips a pass inside to Musonda, who takes a touch before firing past Henderson.

EVERTON 1-0 SUNDERLAND – CALVERT-LEWIN

39: Dominic Calvert-Lewin comes to Everton’s rescue with a smart finish. He’s been threatening all game and slams the ball beyond Steele to put the Blues in front after some good interplay between Vlasic and Klaassen.

21: Marcus Rashford has now scored four braces for Man Utd, with each one coming in a different competition. Put simply, the kid’s a machine.

MANCHESTER UNITED 2-0 BURTON – RASHFORD

17: Commentators curse strikes again! Manchester United have doubled their advantage with a sweetly taken strike from Marcus Rashford from just outside the area. Flew past Ripley between the sticks.

16: Manchester United have completed taken their foot off the gas since Jesse Lingard’s effort. That’s partly due to Burton enjoying a decent spell of possession and pressing nicely.

ARSENAL 1-0 DONCASTER – WALCOTT

25: Theo Walcott comes alive in the League Cup! Well he’s got to come alive somewhere. The England international reaches Alexis Sanchez’s pass over the top, and tucks it home with a neat flick.

9: This could be a bloody long night for Burton. Manchester United are attacking at will with Marcus Rashford almost turning provider for Jesse Lingard, who’s shot flew over.

MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 BURTON – RASHFORD

5: And that’s the breakthrough at Old Trafford. Less than five minutes on the clock. It was a clinical finish from Marcus Rashford, who latched onto Jesse Lingard’s deft pass to put Jose Mourinho’s side in control.

CHELSEA 2-0 NOTTINGHAM FOREST – BATSHUAYI

18: Any hope of an upset look firmly out of the question at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have doubled their lead thanks to Michy Batshuayi.

Hazard’s through ball found its way through the Forest defence to Batshuayi, who slipped his strike through Henderson.

WEST BROM 0-1 MANCHESTER CITY – SANE

2: Blimey, Manchester City aren’t hanging around are they! Pep Guardiola’s side take the lead in less than three minutes through Leroy Sane.

The hosts literally hadn’t touched the ball before Foster parried Ilkay Gundogan’s effort straight to Leroy Sane, who finished nicely.

3: Jose Mourinho would become the first manager to win the League Cup five times if his Manchester United side can bag it this season. The strength of his side reflect how keen his is of that.

CHELSEA 1-0 NOTTINGHAM FOREST – KENEDY

12: It didn’t take long for a Chelsea youngster to make an impression. Rudiger plays a superb deep cross to Kenedy, who volley’s past Henderson at his near post. Great finish!

1: Right, we’re underway at Old Trafford. This will be our featured match tonight, but I’ll be bringing you all the latest from everywhere else.

19:59: Absolute wonder strike from Olivier Giroud clips the bar. Left foot scissor kick from a Jack Wilshere assist.

19:57: Chelsea’s Charly Musonda Jr has made an encouraging start at Stamford Bridge. He’s linking up nicely with Michy Batshuayi nicely and causing all sorts of problems. One to watch…

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Craig: Really would’ve preferred to see Luke Shaw starting for Manchester United tonight. The lad needs game time.

Jono:  Love how much Jose Mourinho respects the League Cup. That’s one hell of a line up for this competition!

Ranjith: If we can’t start Luke Shaw for League Cup, I don’t know which game he can start.

19:50: I have a theory that whatever you knew the competition as during your formative years, is what you still call it today.

It’s the Carling Cup for me, but my dad still calls it the Milk Cup and won’t be told otherwise! Actually, there’s no way people call it the Littlewoods Challenge Cup or Rumbelows Cup still, right?

19:45: And we’re underway folks! Anyone playing the Jack Wilshere sweepstake?

19:43: The 7:45pm matches are about to kick-off now folks. Just a reminder that Manchester United v Burton and West Brom v Manchester City both start at 8pm.

19:40: The Chelsea announcer has paid tribute to former Nottingham Former forest manager Brian Clough before kick-off at Stamford Bridge. He died 13 years ago today.

19:37: Jack Wilshere making his first start for Arsenal in 493 days… #ValueForMoney.

19:35: Ooooh, Manchester United have released their playlist for tonight’s match. I have no idea why they bother doing this, but I’ve actually started to enjoy judging it.

Tonight’s songs have been chosen by Ed Blaney of The Fall. He’s done away with the obscure underground stuff that guests artists usually pick in favour of the HITS.

U2, Kings of Leon, Stereophonics and Van Morrison… this guy knows how to start a party!

19:25: Here’s the details for tonight’s fourth-round draw.

* The draw will be made live on Sky Sports after the live match between Manchester United and Burton Albion.

* The Carabao Cup fourth-round ties will be drawn from the Sky Sports studio in London at around 10pm (if the game doesn’t go to extra-time).

19:20: Pep Guardiola’s side is ridiculously strong for tonight’s clash with West Brom with Gabriel Jesus, Yaya Toure, Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling all involved.

There’s one notable inclusion and that’s Eliaquim Mangala, who’s back from the brink of an summer exit to start alongside John Stones.

Gareth McAuley makes his first start since May. Oliver Burke and Nacer Chadli miss out once again for the Baggies.

WEST BROM v MANCHESTER CITY

West Brom XI: Foster, Nyom, Evans, McAuley, Dawson, Gibbs, Yacob, Krychowiak, Morrison, Rodriguez, Robson-Kanu.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin plays alongside Sandro in attack, with Davy Klaassen and Tom Davies pulling the strings in behind.

There’s a start for right-back Jonjo Kenny, who should link up with summer signing Nikola Vlasic down the right flank.

Just the four ex-Everton players in Sunderland’s squad tonight. Roswell, Gibson, Vaughan and Oviedo…

EVERTON v SUNDERLAND

Everton XI: Stekelenburg, Keane, Williams, Holgate, Kenny, Besic, Klaassen, Davies, Vlasic, Sandro, Calvert-Lewin.

19:10: Jose Mourinho has made nine changes from the side who thumped Everton 4-0 on Sunday with Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford keeping their places.

Elsewhere Sergio Romero replaces David de Gea, while the back four include Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Daley Blind and summer signing Victor Lindelof.

Jesse Lingard, Mata, Anthony Martial and Rashford complete a pretty strong forward line. Michael Carrick starts alongside Ander Herrera in the anchor role.

The Frenchman has made 11 changes from the side who ground out a goalless draw against Premier League champions Chelsea on Sunday.

Sanchez starts in attack alongside Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott, while Calum Chambers returns in defence.

18:55: Right then, Antonio Conte’s made nine changes to the side who drew 0-0 with Arsenal on Sunday.

Cesc Fabregas and Gary Cahill are the only survivors, while Alvaro Morata and Victor Moses have been named on the bench.

Eden Hazard makes a full start in order to gain some minutes after returning from injury, while Michy Batshuayi leads the attack.

Plenty of youngsters in the starting XI with  Kenedy, Musonda and Christensen all playing, while Clarke-Salter, Sterling and Ampadu make up a youthful bench.

ARSENAL v DONCASTER

Arsenal XI: Ospina, Chambers, Mertesacker, Holding, Nelson, Wilshere, Elneny, Maitland-Niles, Walcott, Alexis, Giroud.

Subs: Smith, McKay, Clough, Brereton, Carayol, Darikwa, Vellios.

18:40: We’ll have those starting XI’s dropping shortly folks. All will be revealed right here…

18:35: I almost forgot. If you’d like to have your say on the Carabao Cup, you can comment at the bottom of the page, or find me on .

18:30: Burton boss Nigel Clough insists he can see similarities between his father Brian and Jose Mourinho, claiming they both possess the same ‘no-nonsense’ attitude.

“I think just the way they go about it and the way that they deal with things in such a no-nonsense manner,” he said.

“It’s black or it’s white and that’s it. If a player does the job for him, he has him in, and if he doesn’t, that’s it. I think they look at things in very similar ways in that department. I think the way he (Mourinho) deals with the press and the media, there are similarities there but he’s just no-nonsense and says what he thinks and that’s the biggest similarity.”

18:20: What the hell is Carabao?!

After some extensive Googling, and a few computer-related tantrums, I can reveal that Carabao is an energy drink.

It’s Thailand’s second most popular energy drink, behind another beverage called M-150 (which sounds like a ballistic missile) and tastes like Calpol.

Apparently it’s on sale in England although I’ve never personally seen it…

18:15: Good evening folks, welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Carabao Cup.

Liverpool were dumped out of the competition at the first hurdle against Leicester last night, but they weren’t the only Premier League side to have been given their marching orders.

Brighton, Crystal Palace, Stoke, and Huddersfield are also out of the third most prestigious domestic cup competition in England.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton will be hoping that they aren’t the next casualties, and secure safe passage into tonight’s fourth-round draw.

ARSENAL v DONCASTER

Forward Danny Welbeck faces a four-week absence with a groin problem and will miss tonight’s Carabao Cup clash with Doncaster.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is likely to rotate his squad once again, with Mesut Ozil (knee), Francis Coquelin (hamstring) and Mathieu Debuchy (undisclosed) out.

Midfielder Jack Wilshere and defender Calum Chambers are poised to be involved as Wenger plans to field a similar squad to the one which played Cologne in the Europa League last week.

Arsenal squad: Cech, Ospina, Mertesacker, Holding, Koscielny, Monreal, Mustafi, Bellerin, Nelson, Kolasinac, Ramsey, Wilshere, Coquelin, Xhaka, Elneny, Giroud, Walcott, Sanchez, Iwobi, Lacazette, Maitland-Niles.

CHELSEA v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Forward Eden Hazard is set to start for Chelsea for the first time this season.

Defender David Luiz is suspended for three games and winger Pedro is unlikely to be risked due to a leg injury, while midfielder Danny Drinkwater (calf) is also absent.

Striker Michy Batshuayi could start, with young players Charly Musonda and Kenedy also expected to be given first-team opportunities in a rotated squad.

Chelsea squad: Courtois, Caballero, Rudiger, Alonso, Fabregas, Kante, Morata, Hazard, Bakayoko, Moses, Kenedy, Musonda, Zappacosta, Willian, Batshuayi, Cahill, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Clarke-Salter, Scott, Eduardo.

MANCHESTER UNITED v BURTON

Jose Mourinho will name a strong Manchester United side against Burton, although changes are expected.

Captain Michael Carrick, left-back Luke Shaw and midfielder Scott McTominay are pushing for their first minutes of the season, so too is goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Paul Pogba (hamstring) and Axel Tuanzebe (back) are out of the third-round tie, joining Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (both knee) on the sidelines.

Manchester United squad: De Gea, Romero, Pereira, Valencia, Darmian, Lindelof, Bailly, Jones, Smalling, Blind, Shaw, Young, Fellaini, Matic, Herrera, Carrick, McTominay, Mata, Lingard, Mkhitaryan, Lukaku, Rashford, Martial.

WEST BROM v MANCHESTER CITY

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola could rest goalkeeper Ederson for tonight’s Carabao Cup tie at West Brom.

The Brazilian, who suffered facial wounds after a clash with Liverpool’s Sadio Mane earlier this month, could make way for Claudio Bravo, in keeping with Guardiola’s previous keeper rotation policy in this competition.

Captain Vincent Kompany (calf) will be assessed after returning to training last week and midfielder Ilkay Gunodgan could step up his return from a long-term knee injury. It remains to be seen if veteran midfielder Yaya Toure is involved for the first time this season.

Jake Livermore will miss West Brom’s Carabao Cup clash with Manchester City after being given time off by the Baggies.

The midfielder will return to training on Thursday having been given a break after boss Tony Pulis said he was mentally tired following a busy summer and reduced break after England duty.

Nacer Chadli (thigh) and Oliver Burke (hamstring) remain doubts after missing Saturday’s 0-0 Premier League draw with West Ham but Gareth McAuley may return from a thigh injury.

West Brom squad: Foster, Myhill, Nyom, Evans, Dawson, McAuley, Yuning, Hegazi, Gibbs, Brunt, Yacob, Morrison, Field, McClean, Chadli, Barry, Rondon, Rodriguez, Burke, Robson-Kanu, Krychowiak.

Manchester City squad: Bravo, Gundogan, Muric, Walker, Danilo, Otamendi, Stones, Kompany, Mangala, Adarabioyo, Mendy, Delph, Gundogan, Fernandinho, Toure, De Bruyne, D Silva, B Silva, Sterling, Sane, Diaz, Foden, Aguero, Jesus.

EVERTON v SUNDERLAND

Everton manager Ronald Koeman will make changes for tonight’s visit of Sunderland but needs to strike a balance as he seeks to end a four-match losing streak.

Maarten Stekelenburg could replace former Black Cats goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, with the likes of defenders Jonjoe Kenny and Mason Holgate and midfielders Mohamed Besic and Davy Klaassen also potentially returning.

Youngsters Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ademola Lookman are pushing for involvement up front, with former outcast Oumar Niasse set for a place on the bench.

Everton squad: Stekelenburg, Kenny, Holgate, Keane, Baines, Besic, Schneiderlin, Klaassen, Mirallas, Sandro, Lookman, Calvert-Lewin, Pickford, Martina, Keane, Williams, Jagielka, Gueye, Davies, Sigurdsson, Rooney, Vlasic, Niasse, Lennon.
