Chelsea news: Champions League tickets on sale for as little as 88p!

The average football fan in England are used to paying a huge chunk of their wage on watching their favourite teams play live.

The cheapest available season ticket in the Premier League in last year’s ‘Price of Football’ was said to be £480.

While the most expensive season ticket available was at Arsenal with fans paying £2,013 for the luxurious package.

Champions League football is a little more affordable for the average fan with Chelsea supporters able to buy a match day ticket for £35 for a group stage game, while the price goes up to £50 for a quarter-final and semi-final match at Stamford Bridge.

But Chelsea fans will be rubbing their eyes at the price of a ticket to watch their away group match against Qarabag in two months time.

Blues supporters will be able to buy a match day ticket for as little as 88p at the current exchange rate or just two Azerbaijani Manat.

It’s almost 40 years since English football fans have seen ticket prices that low.

A match at Old Trafford to watch Manchester United in the First Division play Leeds United would have cost a measly 70p back in 1976.

Calculated in to today’s inflation rate that would still cost you less than a pint in London at £4.75.

Chelsea have never travelled to Azerbaijan and it will no doubt be their longest away trip, as they also visit Atletico Madrid and Roma in their group.
