Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One’s BIG free games boost NOT coming to Switch

With both consoles looking to fend off the success of the Nintendo Switch, it always helps to have a few new announcements under your belt.

While Sony’s PlayStation 4 has had a great lineup of exclusives this year, Microsoft’s Xbox One has fallen behind.

The tech giant has also seen itself overtaken in some key markets, such as the UK, by the Nintendo Switch.

However, the Xbox One X is likely to have had a big affect on Xbox One sales, and will likely help to rejuvenate the Xbox brand going into 2018.

And as always, having plenty of new gaming announcements can always help too.

This week saw one pop up that won’t be available on Nintendo Switch.

Warframe, the free game available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, has revealed that their next big update is coming Fall, 2017.

And this isn’t just any ordinary expansion, developers Digital Extremes has confirmed that their Plains of Eidolon expansion will add a new open-world area to the popular title.

Players will be able to use their Archwings to scope out enemy scouts, and will also have the chance to face off against some major new bosses.

The Warframe Plains of Eidolon expansion includes a new Earth landscape, populated with both familiar and never-before seen creatures, enemies, a new Warframe, a day/night cycle, and a new story told through interactive NPC characters in the city of Cetus.

The biggest sell will be that players will be able to see foot in the Plains of the Eidolon with the freedom to explore it on their own terms. This will mean Cetus supporting up to 50 players, with players than venturing out in groups of one to four.

Cetus is a makeshift basecamp for scavengers known as Ostrons who’ve made The Bleeding Tower their home, with a new Warframe and new weapons available to earn

“Plains of Eidolon is our first step in adding a new kind of player freedom to the game,” a message from the development team teases.

“We wanted to give our players something new, something dramatic, and that meant taking risks and evolving the game in a fresh, new direction.

“For veteran players, we’re always trying to give them a living, evolving game. Landscapes is a great example of how we do that.

“If you bounced off Warframe a while ago, this is a very different feel for the game that warrants a second look. We can’t wait to see how people react to this.”

While the Plains of Eidolon doesn’t have a solid release date, we do know that fans won’t be waiting too long to try out the new content.

But it’s not all bad news for Switch fans, with Bethesda confirming that they will be replacing some of their biggest titles on the hybrid console.

The Nintendo Direct event yesterday has provided some big news on what new projects are coming to the hybrid console.

Doom for Nintendo Switch was one of the more eye-catching announcements, with Bethesda revealing that the popular shooter would be arriving this year.

Id Software title will be arriving with single-player mode included, with multiplayer available through download on launch day.

What won’t be included is the SnapMap Editor, which is something Bethesda has ruled out for the Switch version.
