Overwatch news: Junkertown release date REVEALED, as Blizzard plans essential update

Junkertown map has finally been given a release date on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The new map will be available on all platforms on September 19. Overwatch content drops typically go live at either 6 or 7pm UK time, so expect the map be available from then.

“Junkertown is an Escort map located in the harsh and unforgiving Australian Outback,” the official description explains.

“Constructed from the remains of a destroyed omnium, it’s now the home to a band of lawless scavengers known as the Junkers, led by their cutthroat Queen.

“When they aren’t pillaging the omnium’s skeleton for anything of value, the Junkers blow off steam in the Scrapyard—a massive gladiatorial arena whose combatants fight for glory, riches…and to survive.”

It’s expected to launch alongside a new update, which could make changes to Mercy.

As part of the , the popular will only be able to resurrect characters on an individual basis. This will be a regular move with a cooldown period.

Her Ultimate ability  – which currently revives all downed teammates – will be replaced with a move called Valkyrie.

Valkyrie boosts Mercy’s ability and grants her the power of flight.

But Blizzard is planning more than just a Mercy update. In a recent video, game director Jeff Kaplan said that changes would be made to stamp out some of the more toxic elements of the community.

In fact, dealing with bad behaviour and player reports is starting to affect development.

“The bad behaviour is not just ruining the experience for one another but the bad behaviour is actually making the game progress at a much slower rate.”

To combat the problem, Blizzard is making improvements to the reporting feature, which is “not perfect”.
