It movie: Pennywise the clown has a boyfriend – and you won’t BELIEVE who it is

Earlier this year, The Babadook – the titular monster in the 2014 Australian psychological horror – became an unlikely tongue-in-cheek gay icon when Netflix mistakenly categorised the movie in the LGBT section of its site.

Now, the same meme machine has hooked up the beast with Pennywise, played in the new movie by Bill Skarsgard.

Several hilarious tweets on the matter have been posted in recent days, and a poll asking if their couple name should be Babawise or Pennydook has attracted almost 50,000 votes.

For what it’s worth, Pennydook won with 66%.

One person tweeted: “pennywise and the babadook are gay lovers, the sequel to both their films is about their fight to get married in 2009, no one better deny it.”

Another joked: “Pennywise is an LGBT ally: Confirmed.”

One person even posted fan art of the two stepping out together, captioning it: “Pennywise and his boyfriend, The Babadook are off on a date to get crepes and terrorize some kids.”

It has had enormous success at the box office, attracting more than $180 million worldwide in just one weekend.
