The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild: Champions’ Ballad DLC release date news today?

Since announcing new details about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Champions’ Ballad DLC, there’s been silence from Nintendo.

Fans still don’t know when the next piece of content for the hit Nintendo Switch and Wii U game is coming.

However, that could all change today.

A Nintendo Direct event is being held at around 11pm UK time, which will focus on the Switch and 3DS’ biggest releases coming in the next few months.

So far, we only that the Champions’ Ballad release date is set for sometime during “holiday 2017”.

And with Nintendo looking to focus on their biggest launches coming in the next few months, it seems certain will finally learn the DLC 2 release date.

It should be noted that the Japanese games giant haven’t confirmed this as happening, just telling fans what they hope to achieve during their Direct event.

“Tune in at 11pm (UK time) on Wednesday 13th September for nearly 45 minutes of information mainly focused on what’s heading to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS family systems over the next few months, including new details about Super Mario Odyssey for Nintendo Switch,” a message from Nintendo teases.

“You can watch at Nintendo UK’s official Nintendo Direct website, or on Nintendo UK’s YouTube channel.”

As most fans will already know, the second content pack will add a new dungeon, an original story, and more new challenges.

Footage was shown earlier this year, in which producer Eiji Aonuma revealed more about playable characters and the story focus.

“Mr Aonuma confirmed you’ll still play as Link in The Champions’ Ballad, but learn more about Zelda along the way.” reads a Nintendo tweet.

We also know that The Champion’s Ballad is set after Ganon’s defeat in the original Breath of the Wild storyline.

This will in effect mean the new DLC will function as a sort of sequel, hopefully picking up directly after the final scenes shown at the end of the game.

It also adds more items, including Link’s lobster T-shirt from The Wind Waker.

Both expansions are available as part of a season pass, which has a £17.99 price tag.

In terms of new content, the Master Trials DLC adds new modes, map features and items.

It will be worth checking out the Nintendo Direct even if there is no Legend of Zelda news, with Super Mario Odyssey and other big releases getting the spotlight treatment.

The Nintendo Direct will be available to watch online on Twitch, YouTube and Nintendo’s own website.
