Super Smash Bros may finally be announced for , as fresh rumours emerge ahead of the .

Taking place at 11pm UK time later tonight, the latest Nintendo Direct will focus on upcoming Nintendo Switch and 3DS games.

The Nintendo Direct will be broadcast live on the Nintendo website and also on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.

Rumours of a Super Smash Bros Nintendo Switch port surfaced on the Nintendo Japan YouTube channel.

The Nintendo Direct YouTube embed featured a tag for Super Smash Bros in Japan.

The tag was soon deleted, which means it was either posted in error or Nintendo has something to hide.

Little else is known about the upcoming Switch showcase, other than it will feature a segment about Super Mario Odyssey.

“Tune in at 11pm (UK time) on Wednesday 13th September for nearly 45 minutes of information mainly focused on what’s heading to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS family systems over the next few months, including new details about Super Mario Odyssey for Nintendo Switch,” a message from Nintendo teases.

“You can watch at Nintendo UK’s official Nintendo Direct website, or on Nintendo UK’s YouTube channel.”

Other games expected to feature include Skyrim Switch Edition and FIFA 18, which are both out this year.

A Super Smash Bros Nintendo Switch port would make a lot of sense for Nintendo, especially after the success of games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

A Deluxe Edition could include post-release DLC characters and stages, as well as additional costumes.

Super Mario Maker is another Wii U game that would feel at home on Nintendo Switch.

The handheld touchscreen could be used to create levels, which could be played on the go, or on the big screen.
