Man Booker Prize 2017: Shortlist REVEALED here – six books remain in race

At 10am BST, the previously-announced longlist was whittled down once more.

The latest stage in the competition precedes the prize-giving on October 17, when the eventual winner will be revealed.

Paul Auster, Emily Fridlund, Mohsin Hamid, Fiona Mozley, George Saunders and Ali Smith are this year’s lucky half a dozen authors.

The lucky writers are an eclectic bunch: Mozley is a 29-year-old who works part-time at a York bookshop, while veteran writer Auster is 70 – 4 3 2 1 is his first release in seven years.

Smith has been nominated three times previously, while Hamid was previously on the shortlist in 2007.
