James Bond 25: ‘I’m gonna play Bond next’ IDRIS ELBA just said WHAT?

Thousands of female hearst beat faster just at the thought. Most men even get a little hot under the collar imagining the possibility.

Idris Elba has been the fan favourite to take over from Craig for so long it seems almost inevitable.

Now that Craig has confirmed that the 25th movie in the franchise will be his last, all eyes are turning to his fellow Brit.

In a new interview Elba said two tantalising things on the subject.

Elba was talking about his latest film with Kate Winslet, The Mountain Between Us.

It is yet another action role that proves he has the physicality and the acting chops to play the biggest part in cinema.

Unsurprisingly, talk turned to Bond and the actor’s thoughts on stepping into the iconic role.

Elba was quick to (under)rate his chances: “I think not, but you really need to ask the producers. Like I can just (mimes making a telephone call), ‘Hey, I’m gonna play Bond next! No, it’s Idris. Hello?’

“No one wants it.”

His last comment is so spectacularly wrong that it undermines the rest of what he says.

Clearly, huge numbers of people would love to see him in the role and it’s unlikely that he hasn’t had some sort of contact with the producers in the past months.

He has patently earned his licence to play coy, whether or not he will upgrade it to one to kill and thrill remains to be seen.

James Bond 25 will be released in November 2018
