Chelsea can go furthest in Champions League, Man Utd chances ruled out – Alan Pardew

Those are the thoughts of Alan Pardew.

Chelsea are back at Europe’s top table after a hiatus last term where they didn’t play any European football.

Antonio Conte’s men got their group campaign off to a flyer last night at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are searching for their first Champions League title since 2012 when they beat Bayern Munich in the final on penalties.

And Pardew likes the look of Chelsea in the early stages of this season.

He said on Sky Sports’ The Debate Show: “Chelsea look as good as last year going into the Champions League in my opinion.

“Morata looks like he will only get better.”

Pardew however, doesn’t feel Manchester United are quite enough to challenge.

He added: “One of the Premier League teams can win it for sure.

“I do look at Real Madrid and when they played Manchester United, and I’ve seen two of United’s games this season.

“I thought they were level above – I still think we’ve got a level to go.”
