Forget OnePlus 5, new smartphones rumoured launch soon as invite teases upcoming event

The OnePlus 5 was revealed earlier this year and offers Android fans the chance to own a premium device at a much more reasonable price.

Although it costs less that £500, this device is packed with flagship specs including the latest Snapdragon 835 processor, a dual-lens camera and 5.5-inch AMOLED display.

saying “Make no mistake, OnePlus 5 is a brilliant smartphone.”

However, if you are thinking of spending your money on this device it might be worth holding off for a couple of weeks.

OnePlus will hold an invite-only event on September 19, the company has confirmed to Express.co.uk.

The event will showcase the fruits of a new partnership between OnePlus and iconic French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

The collaboration has been dubbed, “Callection”.

OnePlus told Express.co.uk, “Always one to pursue the unconventional, Castelbajac was the perfect partner for OnePlus.

“Known for constantly challenging the conventions of the smartphone industry, OnePlus has made head-waves in the mobile industry since 2013.

“Headlined by its internationally acclaimed mobile devices, OnePlus is committed to delivering innovative and accessible technology.

“The collection, titled ‘Callection’, is the result of two disruptors working together.

“It unites Castelbajac’s signature chromatic style with the powerful tech, and attention to detail that defines OnePlus’ products.”

OnePlus has also teased the event with the tagline “when the style meets its machine, one night in September in Paris…” hinting a new, limited edition, OnePlus 5 could be on its way.

OnePlus will unveil the complete “Callection” on Tuesday September 19th at 7.30pm BST during an exclusive event in Paris, leading up to Paris Fashion week.

OnePlus is no stranger to quickly turning around new devices, with the OnePlus 3T launched some six months after the OnePlus 3.

The 3T colette edition was revealed back in March, with OnePlus saying the device reflected their shared attention to detail and devotion to experiences of unparalleled quality.

The news comes as it’s been revealed the onto the device.

The ambitious plans to roll-out Android 8.0 Oreo to users in matter of weeks was first broken by technology blog Android Police.

It claims the Shenzhen-based smartphone start-up purportedly wants its hardware to be viewed as “quick to update” to the latest operating systems.

OnePlus’ hardware runs an almost-untouched version of Android, with only a few minimal additions and tweaks.

This near-stock experience should allow the hugely-popular Chinese company to get the latest Android updates faster than some of its closest rivals, which layer more visual changes onto the Google operating system.
