SNES Classic Mini pre order – Great stock news for fans from Nintendo

The Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Edition has been a huge success already, with pre-order stock getting snapped up in minutes around the world.

SNES Classic Mini pre-orders recently opened in the US after a wait of almost two months and sold like hot cakes at five major retailers.

GameStop, Walmart, Best Buy, Target and Amazon all took SNES Classic Mini pre-orders and sold out within minutes.

While for UK fans, SNES Classic Mini pre-orders have returned recently after a dry spell of around a month.

Earlier today Smyths Toys started taking pre-orders again for the SNES Classic Mini, but sold out in a few minutes time.

ShopTo, and the Amazon sites for France and Spain have all been taking SNES Classic Mini pre-orders in recent days.

Scalpers have also started once again placing SNES Classic Mini pre-orders on auction site eBay at inflated prices. has seen one SNES Classic Mini listing on eBay for an eye-watering £249.99 – more than THREE times the RRP.

Fans desperate for a console who have been unable to secure a SNES Classic Mini may be tempted to turn to eBay to secure a pint-sized console.

But Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has warned AGAINST doing this and assured fans about stock availability.

In an interview with the Financial Times, he said that Nintendo had “dramatically increased” production for the SNES Classic Mini.

This comes after its predecessor, the NES Classic Mini, was discontinued after suffering widespread stock shortages worldwide.

Reggie told gamers not to pay above the RRP for a SNES Classic Mini and suggested the console WILL be widely available.

He said: “I would strongly urge you not to over-bid on an SNES Classic on any of the auction sites . . . You shouldn’t [have to] pay more than $79.99.”

Also addressing the NES Classic Mini stock shortages, he said Nintendo had not been holding back stock on purpose to create a super-rare console.

He said Nintendo had not produced enough units because models Nintendo had looked at for other retro consoles showed it might not be popular.

It remains to be seen whether SNES Classic Mini stock will be easily available after launch.

But it’s not the first time Nintendo have come out to reassure fans about the amount of SNES Classic Mini units that will be in store.

In a previous statement to USGamer, Nintendo said: “We aren’t providing specific numbers, but we will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition.

“Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition is currently planned to ship from 29th September until the end of calendar year 2017. 

“At this time, we have nothing to announce regarding any possible shipments beyond this year.”

The SNES Classic Mini comes loaded with 21 classic 16-Bit games that are playable in glorious HD.

It also comes with an awesome rewind feature, to held you get past really difficult levels, and two controllers bundled with the console.

It costs $79.99 in the US and either £69.99 or £79.99 in the UK, and has a fast-approaching release date of September 29.

These stores are as follows: Smyths, Amazon, Tesco Direct, Game, Very, Official Nintendo Store, Argos, Simply Games, ShopTo, Toys R Us, GameSeek. 

Some of these stores will have stock alerts available, if the console is listed on their site, and others won’t.

For those who do have the console listed, it’s worth setting up stock alerts and accounts with these retailers.

This will help you save time if SNES Classic Mini stock does become available and give you a better chance of securing a pre-order.
